Exchange Hosting
What you are asking to do is actually not a specific feature of Exchange Hosting, it's the difference in mail protocols. It is all about the protocol you choose not the brand of the mail server software.

You currently use POP as your inbound protocol. That protocol operates by "Popping" the email account and downloading the email on to your local PC, typically deleting the mail from the mail server. This prevents other computers from seeing the information. That downloaded email ends up in Outlook in your "Personal Folders Inbox". Think of your Personal folders as your local mail storage.

You have the option to switch the Email account you are using in Outlook to "IMAP". The IMAP protocol operates by reading the mail headers on the server and displaying the information in Outlook. On your Email pane on the left side of Outlook you will see a new folder once created for the IMAP mail account. This protocol leaves the mail on the server for access by other mail clients. When you click on the email to read it in Outlook a copy of the mail item is downloaded to your computer.

The benefit of IMAP is precisely what you are looking for. You can set up all of your computers to read your mail account(s) using IMAP instead of POP. That way when you close your office computer at the end of the day and go home, you can turn on Outlook at home and see exactly the same thing you left from the office. All the inbound and sent mail will be on Outlook.

Exchange does not syncronize the email, they simply use the IMAP protocol. The other features of Exchange hosting that people like are shared resources such as calendars and contact lists. Again, you can do exactly the same thing with our mail system.

To start using IMAP you must remove your old POP account from Outlook. Removing the POP account does not remove the mail in your personal folders. Recreate the account in Outlook only this time instead of choosing the POP protocol select IMAP. The account will be created under your Personal Folders.

That's all there is to do and it is available free of charge right now. One thing to keep in mind is that you have a quota on the server for mail. What you should get use to doing is moving mail by highlighting it in Outlook then selecting from the right click menu "Move Mail To Folder", and move it to your Inbox of the Personal Folders. That will download all the mail highlighted from the server into your Personal Items folder for archiving. You can do this with old mail. Your storage on the server is not unlimited.
